Excellent meissen porcelain figurine: acrobat with highly coiffed curls, ruff and floor-length white tailcoat with orange accents, wide green trousers, standing on one leg, balancing a plate on the other raised leg, juggling more plates around his body with his arm stretched high. All plates are decorated with different meissen designs and marked with the blue sword mark. More juggling tools – balls and clubs – lay scattered on the floor. Based on a small, slightly curved rectangular base. A series of circus figures by peter strang, the long-standing chief sculptor at the meissen manufactory, are an extraordinary homage to the colourful world of acrobats and magicians, full of movement and humour, handmade unique pieces with loving details, artfully painted. With their distinctive, expressive design language, they combine traditional porcelain art with contemporary expressiveness and poetry. Designed by peter strang (1936 - 2022) sculptor, from 1950 at the meissen manufactory, studied at the academy in dresden, 1973-2001 artistic director at the meissen manufactory, then freelance, from 1981 resident in moritzburg, created numerous genre and animal figures as well as wall sculptures.
