This box is beautifully inlaid with sheet music, musical instruments and florals of exotic woods.
It is inlaid on the lid and all 4 sides.
The box was made in Switzerland by the world famou Reuge Music company.
This box uses a cylinder with arranged pins to create the music. It plays 3 different melodys using 72 pins:
The Magic Flute
Eine Kleine Nachtmisik-Minuet
Turkish March
The music making elements can be seen when you open the lid but they are covered by a lid of glass.
The lid of glass can also be opened like the lid.
It has a the winder at the base of the box.
There is a brass button under the key hole which you slide over to play the music.
Original key locks and opens the box.
This comes with the original pamphlet which tells you some history of the company and how the box works.
The music is delightful and it takes you back to a life long ago.
The box is marked MADE IN SWITZERLAND.
It measures 11 3/8" long at the bottom, 7" wide along the bottom edge and 3 3/4" tall.
