This … Read more Vase in very good condition, produced around the 1940s by the renowned Italian manufacturer Ceramica Richard Ginori San Cristoforo. This is a large-scale vase whose sinuous lines—fully expressing the ideals of Italian classicism—were designed by Giovanni Gariboldi, who succeeded Gio Ponti as Creative Director of the Ginori manufactory in 1946. Currently out of production, despite the Ginori manufactory having been revived after years of inactivity and acquired by Gucci (Kering Group) in 2013, this rare mid-20th-century vase features a minimal and pure form that lends the object a distinctive aura and a contemplative presence. The glaze applied to the maiolica structure is not a simple or flat black; rather, it was achieved through the layering of multiple colors, as used in various painterly techniques. As a result, subtle green and bluish reflections emerge, particularly visible around the rim of the vase.
