Exceptional early American Empire ogee wall mirror, crafted in richly figured mahogany veneer with a warm hand-rubbed patina, retaining its original gilt inner liner.
Versatile in scale, this handsome mirror would be perfect in a study, bar or cigar room. Also, ideal as a statement wall mirror in an entry, living room, bedroom or powder room.

- The mirror is of good weight and structurally sound with wire on reverse for hanging. The original backing would have … moreThe mirror is of good weight and structurally sound with wire on reverse for hanging. The original backing would have been heavy wooden slats or boards nailed directly to the frame. At some point, someone has removed this backing (I am sure to lessen the weight for hanging purposes). So the current backing is not original to the piece. The mirror glass plate showing age-appropriate foxing/wear (zoom in on photos for examples). The frame has honest wear and patina throughout to be expected from age and use. I am happy to answer any questions you may have prior to purchase or to send more photos if needed. less
