This is a superb vintage twin pedestal dining table in elegant george iii style, crafted in mahogany with twelve shieldback … Read more This is a superb vintage twin pedestal dining table in elegant george iii style, crafted in mahogany with twelve shieldback dining chairs, all bought at great expense from harrods, dating from the second half of the 20th century. The rectangular top is decoratively crossbanded in satinwood and features two leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion. It is raised on a pair of gun barrel columns with quadruple swept sabre leg bases which are fitted with brass toes and castors. The amazing craftsmanship that has gone into this elegant table is immediately obvious, the lovely warm tones and grain of the flame mahogany wood ensuring the table is shown off to perfection. The set of twelve dining chairs comprises two armchairs and ten side chairs all featuring an attractive shield back design hand carved withj the coronet plume of the prince of wales feathers with drop in seats upholstered a stunning striped fabric. The botanical name for the mahogany this item is made of is swietenia macrophylla and this type of mahogany is not subject to cites regulation. Condition: in really excellent condition having only been beautifully cleaned, polished and waxed in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.
