The seated dogs are rendered in a restrained animalier style, with simplified volumes and balanced proportions typical of interwar Art Deco sculpture. The figures are made of spelter with a dark bronze-toned patina and mounted on original veined marble bases.

Signed “Jamar” on the paw of each figure. These bookends combine decorative presence with functional use and work well in both classic and contemporary interiors.

Condition is good overall. One sculpture shows a stable crack and a very small spelter loss (approximately 0.078 in / 2 mm) located on the underside of the belly. The marble base of the other bookend shows minor edge wear. Overall presentation remains strong and consistent with age.
