A late 1700’s American mule chest in original dark red stained Pine, showing the honest craftsmanship of rural New England or the Mid-Atlantic around 1760-1790. This chest had a hinged lift-top lid that opens to a deep storage compartment, with a stack of two deep dovetailed drawers below. Chest has ornate brass drawer pulls and keyhole escutcheons. Inside, early hand-cut joinery, wide pine secondary boards, and the natural oxidation that marks true 18th-century construction.
