Mid-century French stoneware vase signed Accolay, circa 1960. This sculptural vase features a ribbed body with a waisted profile, finished in a variegated blue and gray glaze typical of Accolay’s post-war ceramic production. The expressive glaze, subtle tonal variations, and balanced proportions make it a strong decorative object suitable for both modern and vintage interiors.
About Accolay
The Accolay pottery workshop was founded in Burgundy, France, in 1945 by André Boutaud, Louis Dangon, Slavik Paley, and Raudé, following their training under ceramist Alexandre Kostanda. Established in a former factory in the village of Accolay (Yonne), the studio became known for its experimental, handcrafted ceramics. In its early years, Accolay also produced ceramic jewelry and accessories that were notably used by Christian Dior for his “New Look” collections, before gaining international recognition for its distinctive mid-century studio pottery.
