The bowl is executed in a … Read more An exceptional argenta stoneware bowl designed by wilhelm kåge for gustavsberg, sweden, dated 1935. The bowl is executed in a rich turquoise-green glaze and decorated with an elegant hand-applied silver inlay depicting a stylized mermaid motif, a hallmark of the argenta series. The interior rim is further embellished with a continuous silver border, enhancing the refined and graphic character of the piece. Produced in thick, heavy stoneware, the bowl has a substantial, high-quality feel, reflecting gustavsberg’s finest craftsmanship during the interwar period. The base is fully marked with hand drejad=handmade, argenta, model number 1107, and the gustavsberg studio mark, confirming its authenticity and period. Condition: very fine vintage condition. Minor, age-appropriate wear to the base consistent with careful use; no cracks or repairs. The silver decoration remains well preserved. A highly collectible example of scandinavian art deco ceramics and one of wilhelm kåge’s most celebrated series.
