Up for sale is an important European ornamental vase dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries (late 19th/early 20th century). This striking object reinterprets the splendor of the "Royal Vienna" style and Neoclassicism in a decorative key.
Design and Style: The shape is classic amphora, slender and imposing (over 50 cm tall), characterized by elaborate scrolled handles framing the neck. The distinctive and rare element of this piece is the base color: a vibrant terracotta/bright orange hue, a departure from traditional colors, lending the piece a warmth and uniqueness. The surface is embellished with heavy relief gilding (floral and geometric motifs) that creates a luxurious contrast with the matte base. At the center, a medallion features a silkscreened scene in the Historicist/Classical style (female figures or a gallant scene), typical of Central European decorative art of the period.
Marks and Provenance: The mold numbers "1666" and "3" are stamped on the bottom of the vase, used by the manufacturer to catalog the model. There is a blue stain (an indecipherable mark) and, confirming its history among Italian collectors, a gold label from a historic Milanese antiques shop ("Antichità VIP 7").
