L. Hobson’s seminal reference on the history of the manufactory. The vase is shown in full elevation, allowing the form, colour balance, and decorative programme to be appreciated as a complete design rather than as a fragment. Note: the print is offered unframed, giving flexibility to select a frame that best suits the intended interior. The attached image of the print in a frame is an impression only. The vase is decorated on a rich green ground with extensive gilded ornament and large shaped reserves. At the centre appears a dramatic phoenix scene, the mythical bird rendered in flowing movement among flowering branches and stylised foliage. The phoenix, a symbol of renewal and immortality, was a favoured motif in high-quality worcester wares inspired by east asian models. Surrounding panels feature additional birds, floral sprays, and patterned grounds, carefully organised to articulate the faceted body of the vase. Gold highlighting plays a crucial role in the design. Gilded borders define the reserves, rims, and architectural divisions of the vessel, lending depth and richness to the overall composition.
