Alchemya is a sculptural ceramic piece handcrafted in the Tamegroute tradition of southern Morocco, known for its raw forms and distinctive glazes shaped by fire and mineral-rich clay.
This multi-spout ceramic sculpture features an organic, architectural silhouette with multiple candle openings rising from a single body. Finished with a deep green glaze marked by natural tonal variations, drips, and irregular textures, each surface reflects the unpredictability of traditional wood-firing and hand-applied glazing.
Made entirely by hand using local natural clay, this piece embraces imperfection as an expression of authenticity. The glaze pools and shifts across the form, creating subtle contrasts between glossy and matte areas, with earthy undertones emerging beneath the green surface.
Both functional and sculptural, Alchemya can be used as a candle holder or displayed as a standalone ceramic statement. Its presence adds depth, character, and a sense of heritage to contemporary, wabi-sabi, or eclectic interiors.
Crafted in the historic village of Tamegroute in Morocco’s Draa Valley, these ceramics come from a rare, family-held tradition preserved by only a small number of workshops. Shaped by hand from local clay and fired in traditional wood-fueled kilns, each piece develops its surface through mineral-rich glaze, ash, heat, and shifting kiln atmosphere.
Subtle differences in firing conditions and even placement inside the kiln create the signature earthy greens and raw tonal variations Tamegroute is known for. No two pieces are ever exactly alike.

As is characteristic of traditional Tamegroute glazed ceramics, it presents natural variations in glaze thickness, pooling, drips, surface texture, and tonal shifts resulting from the wood-firing process and mineral-rich glazes. These irregularities are inherent to the handmade process and are considered part of the piece’s authenticity and character. No repairs or restorations have been made. less
