The Olympic Committee commissioned 15 nationally known artists to create unique designs to promote the event, including Lynda Benglis, Sam Francis and others. The poster reproduces The Skater, N.Y., Dec. 1982, 1982, one of Hockney's characteristic photographic collages. The image is of a spinning ice skater on the ice, wearing a bright blue track suit and black skates. Hockney created his collage compositions by layering polaroids to create a fragmented, dynamic view of the subject. Here, the skater's deconstructed body appears in motion. This vintage poster was designed by the artist in Petersburg Press studio. This piece is nicely framed in a thin metal frame. Piece can be shipped out of frame for cheaper shipping!
