This is a vintage Japanese table lamp, converted from a cylindrical vase.
It features hand-painted decorations with a rich assortment of colors, including gold, plum, rose, and navy blue, typical of the 19th century design style. The quality of the painting and the amount and type of gilding tell us that.
The primary design appears to be large, detailed peony flowers and birds or other flora with a lot of gilding, and it is signed. The aesthetic movement was taken from Japanese design from this period , which is 1875.
