This original pen and ink drawing titled 'Corporate Structure' is by the well listed, American artist Betty Wells and features a modernist composition of overlapping human figures drawn in continuous expressive line that creates a strong sense of movement, structure, and emotional tension. The work is presented in its original wood frame with charcoal mat and retains the original handwritten label on the back with the artist’s name, title, Baltimore address, and date, making it a well documented vintage artwork.
Betty Wells was a nationally recognized American news artist who spent more than three decades documenting pivotal moments in U.S. history from inside courtrooms, congressional hearings, and the White House, covering events ranging from Watergate and major spy and terrorism trials to environmental cases and landmark political debates, often working undercover or reconstructing scenes when cameras were not allowed, and she remains the only artist ever granted behind-the-scenes access to the U.S. Supreme Court, where she painted the inner life of the court for broadcast and print. Her work appeared across all NBC News programs and was widely published in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Baltimore Sun, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, and National Geographic, and she was the recipient of multiple Emmy Awards for her investigative and documentary illustrations, including her acclaimed coverage of the Church of Scientology and the NBC special Washington Odyssey.
