This elegant Biedermeier chest of drawers originates from 19th-century Germany and exemplifies the refined simplicity, balanced proportions, and high-quality craftsmanship characteristic of the period. The piece is veneered in carefully selected walnut, featuring a warm tone and a calm, harmonious grain pattern that highlights the natural beauty of the wood.
The chest has undergone a careful and respectful restoration in our workshop. The surface was finished using a traditional hand-applied shellac French polish, applied with a pad. This historically appropriate technique enhances the depth and richness of the walnut veneer while providing durable protection and preserving the authentic character of the piece.
The chest features two spacious drawers, both lockable with a key. The original locks and escutcheons have been preserved. The absence of decorative handles emphasizes the restrained elegance and clean lines typical of true Biedermeier design.
Thanks to its simple, minimalist form, this chest integrates beautifully into contemporary interiors. The Biedermeier style, based on clarity, symmetry, and functional design, remains remarkably modern and aligns naturally with today’s minimalist, Scandinavian, and modern spaces.
