This mid-20th century Turkish Kayseri rug, features a distinctive garden panel design composed of individually framed vignettes arranged in a grid layout. Each compartment displays a unique scene ranging from stylized trees of life and cypress vases to lions, birds, and architectural mihrab motifs woven in a harmonious palette of soft terracotta, ivory, deep indigo, and pale blue. The outer border echoes these themes with alternating floral and symbolic motifs, adding visual rhythm and cohesion. Rich in symbolism and refined in execution, this Kayseri weaving offers a charming narrative quality within a formal structure.
