A beautiful rustic glazed earthenware bowl shaped from black terracotta clay, finished with a white porcelain glaze. From Astier de Villatte, each piece is truly one-of-a-kind, entirely handmade in Paris, France.
Created in 1996, Astier de Villatte is an artisanal ceramics workshop in Paris, the only one of its kind, which takes up and modernizes the tradition of Parisian manufactures of the 18th century. Based in a historic Rue Saint-Honoré workshop (once home to Napoleon Bonaparte’s silversmith), the atelier uses terre noire clay collected from the banks of the Seine, carefully pressed into a mold and dipped in their signature milky white glaze. The pieces evoke a rustic, handmade charm with intentional pops of the nearly black terre noire clay peeping through from under the white glaze.
Stamped on the underside with the Astier de Villatte monogram.
