Built with substantial wrought iron throughout, this box would have been used to protect and store private papers or personal items of high value. Heavy wrought iron side handles remain in place to facilitate movement.
The painted surface shows significant distress, including scrapes and general wear consistent with age and use. Nicks are visible along the edge where the top and lid connect. Two padlocks are included, along with keys. Keys are NOT guaranteed to work, but included for looks only.
Sold in vintage used condition, the iron remains solid and intact. This lock box offers strong visual presence and can serve as a highly unique side table or accent piece.
