Exceptional antique dome-top steamer trunk by the historic Adams Express Company, featuring its original lithographed paper interior with scenic and portrait panels, ornate printed borders, and compartmentalized storage including a lidded interior box. The exterior showcases rich faux-grained metal panels, solid wood slats, and elaborate cast metal corner mounts, straps, and lock hardware. Original side handles and central locking mechanism remain intact.
The interior retains vivid color, period imagery, and rare intact paper lining—an increasingly scarce feature in trunks of this age. The domed top, decorative metalwork, and original branding label from the Adams Express Company (19th-century American shipping and railway express firm) add significant historical and decorative value.
