Dating to the mid-20th century, the cabinet draws inspiration from classical Chinese furniture and architectural ornament, offering both substantial storage and bold visual presence.

The upper section features four drawers carved in relief with stylized mythical beasts, each fitted with shield-shaped metal escutcheons. Below, four cabinet doors are centered with deeply carved circular taotie mask medallions—an ancient Chinese motif symbolizing strength and protection. Pierced geometric lattice panels at each end add depth and refined detail.

Constructed entirely of solid wood with a plank back and traditional joinery, the cabinet displays a warm, aged patina that highlights the natural grain of the elm.
