Delightful portrait of a young woman holding her cat by self-taught US artist Ruth Arenz. Paint on wood, signed on recto, in true cheerful yet outsider style of the artist. Looks painterly yet smooth to the touch.
Frame was sourced from UK dealer and is marked as antique French. Hand-carved with self-liner in dark gold. Makes a wonderful complement to the outsider painting. Wood painting base extrudes approximately .5” from the back of the frame (painting of greater depth than the rabbet) and lies flat against the wall when hung. Ready to hang.
