Sourced in Berlin

A striking 19th-century Gothic Revival ecclesiastical lantern, cast in bronze with remnants of original gilt, featuring tall lancet windows, trefoil and quatrefoil tracery, and a spired roof surmounted by a Latin cross. The lantern is raised on a substantial cast base with pierced Gothic ornament, giving the piece strong architectural presence and excellent proportions.

This piece was sourced in Berlin, a historic center for ecclesiastical metalwork and Gothic Revival production during the late 19th century. Originally intended for church use—likely as an altar or processional lantern—it was designed to be viewed in candlelight, with deeply cast details that read beautifully at a distance.

The surface retains a rich, timeworn patina with areas of verdigris consistent with age and material.

Please note: one small decorative tip at the lower edge of the lantern is missing (see images). This does not affect structural integrity and is consistent with age and ecclesiastical use.

A sculptural and atmospheric object well suited for collectors of religious artifacts, Gothic Revival interiors, or as a dramatic decorative accent.
