This set of 5 sterling 7 5/8” dinner forks, were made by Gorham for the exclusive San Francisco shop Shreve & Co.
Similar to Gumps in San Francisco, these shops traveled to only best manufactures of the day select the items they would like to sell in their shops and had their names placed on each piece.
These have a ‘K’ monogram in a ribbon style
These are a perfect beginning or addition to starting your own mixed sterling set. Or possibly you are adding to pieces you already own. Though the added 'Shreve' connection makes these even more collectible than without as that store was a San Francisco institution for over a century and has sadly now closed.
The Lancaster pattern by Gorham (patented 1897) is a highly collectible sterling silver flatware design featuring a distinct floral and scroll motif, commonly marked with the lion, anchor, and G hallmark.
Discontinued 1897
Value: Generally sells for 2–5 times the raw silver melt value due to high collectibility and antique status.
