Stunning antique Chinese blue and white porcelain ginger jar featuring exquisite hand-painted peony and leaf motifs. This substantial piece dates to the late 19th to early 20th century and showcases the classic melon-ribbed form.

The exceptional weight (over 5 pounds) confirms this is a genuine antique piece, not a modern reproduction. Hand-painted decoration shows artistic variation and skilled brushwork characteristic of period export porcelain.

Condition:
Age-appropriate wear consistent with a 100+ year old piece. The porcelain remains beautiful with no chips or cracks. Some wear visible around the rim and lid. The lid needs to be placed as shown in photos to snap into place correctly. Wear is minimal and not noticeable when displayed. Comes with matching lid featuring decorative brass finial.

History:
Previously converted for use as a lamp (drilled hole in base with stopper). This modification was commonly done to fine antique pieces in the mid-20th century. Despite the conversion, this remains a gorgeous decorative piece perfect for any blue and white collection. No confirmed signature or stamp found. Small area on the back (shown in photos) that could potentially be a marking, but could also be a slight imperfection during the production process. Please review all photos.
