This large-scale mid-20th century Peruvian textile features a bold geometric composition rooted in traditional Andean design. Centered around a prominent chakana design, the pattern radiates outward in stepped chevrons and angular motifs, creating a dynamic sense of movement and balance. Zigzag borders frame the composition and enhance its graphic presence.
The rich, earthy palette includes tones of burnt orange, clay, dusty rose, magenta, ochre, and muted blue-gray, lending warmth and visual depth. Subtle variations in color and weave reflect the handmade nature of the piece and suggest the possible use of natural dyes.
With its generous, nearly square format, this textile works beautifully as a wall hanging, offering a striking blend of folk art tradition and modern visual appeal.
