Art deco, teapot by rgk, czechoslovakia, 1930's.
the piece is made of porcelain, with an enameled coating, that is a beautiful shade of pastel pink, featuring a sleek design pattern, shape and decor typical of the epoch, with gilted silver decor on the body, handle, spout, inner lip, lid and ornamental finial/ knob (see photos.)
the inner section under the lid, has one side designed with a convex part that fits into one side of the pot towards the handle (see photos), and another side designed with a convex shape, that does not have enamel, allowing enough space for one to insert a tea basket/infuser (for loose tea leaves) with a chain that has a hook at the end, which can fit into a hole underneath the upper part of the handle (see photos.). The upper section of the inside of the pot, has 11 holes in the form of a diamond, in order for filtered tea to be poured out of the spout (see photos.)
the teapot is in overall very good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age, some slightly faded areas of color on the silver gilting, and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall structure, body, handle, spout, lid, lip, finial and base (see photos.) a small, naturally occurring mark on the top of the lid under the enamel, which is not a crack, as the enamel remains smooth (see photo.) light signs of previous use under the base, (see photos.) no cracks or chips.
piece carries a green maker's mark with a crown above it, indicating it was made some time between 1928 to 1938, and a serial number, "680/5727" (see photos.) it has only been gently cleaned with respect to its original patina of time.
all photos taken in both indoor and outdoor natural light, so colors may vary, based upon brightness, reflections, shadows, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
