Vintage framed 1950s watercolor on paper entitled ''Golden Town of the West'' signed Hugh Mesibov (American, 1916-2016), and dated 1953.

The painting was removed from the frame to reveal the title as well as the artist's name and address (see photos). Subsequently, the watercolor was returned to the frame and re-backed. The New York framer's label that appears verso is original (see photos). Additionally, the work is also signed illegibly in the lower right corner and dated 1953.
Mr. Mesibov was an Abstract Expressionist with a global reputation whose work is included in various collections worldwide. His works are part of the collections of the Smithsonian, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum as well as The British Museum (see Wikipedia article).
Condition of the painting and vintage frame is excellent. See less
