There is a fine line between laid-back luxury and a house full of wicker and John Hutton knew exactly where it was. Designed for Donghia, this lounge chair pairs hand-woven rattan with rich mahogany in a silhouette that is both architectural and entirely at ease. No anchors, no obligatory blue-and-white stripes, no beach-house clichés working overtime to establish a theme. Just beautiful materials, intelligent proportions, and the quiet confidence of a chair that doesn't need to remind you where you are to make you feel somewhere wonderful.

The rattan brings warmth and texture; the mahogany lends depth and definition. Custom ivory performance cushions complete the composition with a crisp, tailored contrast—and the practical reassurance that spills, overconfident dinner guests, and people who treat white upholstery as a personal challenge needn't be cause for alarm.

Engraved with the Donghia mark and reassuringly substantial, this is a chair designed to be lived in, not merely admired from a safe distance. Place it in a sunroom, beside a fireplace, or in a living room that needs less decoration and considerably better judgment.

Effortless, not ordinary—and unlike certain houseguests, it improves the room, requires no entertaining, and never mistakes an invitation for a permanent arrangement. See less
