The central reserve is framed by a vivid cobalt-blue border decorated with scattered floral sprigs, all outlined by iron-red line work that gives the composition crisp definition and balance.

The softly scalloped, octagonal form and gently raised rim reflect traditional Chinese export wares produced for Western markets in the late Qing dynasty to early Republican period.
