vintage passion
item :
an absolute icon in the history of design is presented, an object that transcends the function of a seat to become a sculpture. This is the famous "willow 1" armchair, designed by scottish master charles rennie mackintosh (original design from 1904) and produced by cassina for the prestigious "i maestri" collection.
authenticity and rarity (collector's piece): this piece is made extremely rare and valuable by the presence of its complete accessories:
1. Firebranding: under the base is the "cassina / charles rennie mackintosh" logo and the serial number 2706.
2. Original certificate: the item is accompanied by its original cassina "identity card," which bears the same serial number (2706), certifying its provenance and production (the series began in 1973).
design and architecture: the "willow" is a stylized throne, characterized by its unmistakable curved lattice backrest (semi-circle) that envelops the sitter. The geometric design is a perfect synthesis of art nouveau and modernism. The frame is made of ebonized ash wood (black), which enhances the graphic lines. Under the seat is the characteristic oval storage compartment, accessible by lifting the cushion. The cushion is padded and upholstered in light-colored fabric (pale aqua green/light blue), creating an elegant contrast with the black frame.
