The piece features a flowing and elegantly contoured structure, with a curved front, which gives the whole a refined balance and a high-quality stage presence. The original slender and flowing legs are fully Louis XV, with a curved shape and a well-profiled cupboard, perfectly consistent with the chronology of the piece. Entirely veneered in walnut, the chest of drawers is striking for the exceptional quality of the wood selection and the high level of craftsmanship. The surface is embellished with a highly refined walnut herringbone pattern, arranged with great compositional sensitivity, generating geometric designs and dynamic backgrounds exclusively through the orientation of the wood grain. The deep, vivid grain of the walnut, enhanced by the presence of burl, gives the piece an extraordinary richness of color and texture. The entire piece is elegantly framed and trimmed in maple, with thin, even strips framing the main parts, discreetly highlighting the architecture of the piece without weighing it down. The top follows the movement of the front and is also finely crafted, contributing to the visual continuity of the whole; it features a slight undulation, natural and consistent with the piece's age, due to the physiological movement of the wood over time. from a conservation standpoint, the dresser is in excellent overall condition: sound and stable structure, original back, original legs; restoration was limited to external polishing only, which was respectful and non-invasive. Some small folders have been replaced, with timely and well-integrated interventions. The hardware is antique, but not original. Given the quality of the materials, the refinement of the veneer, the balance of the proportions, and the state of preservation, this is a high-quality piece of furniture, representative of the best production of the Ferrara area with Venetian influence in the first half of the 18th century.
