This firm, established in 1810, is America's oldest high end jeweler and silver retailer.

This sculptural piece features an oval fluted body and a domed hinged lid surmounted by a finely cast pineapple finial — a charming motif typical of late 19th century high end tea caddies. The brite cut decoration on all four sides and lid shows the skill of the silversmith The caddy’s interior is beautifully preserved. There are no monograms, unusual for antique sterling tea caddies which were frequently given as wedding gifts.

The underside is stamped:

• 'BLACK, STARR & FROSTLL...STERLING' along with the firm's eagle hallmark and '10' pattern size.
