A gorgeous trade shop front-door mailbox from the 19th Century. This antique beauty belonged to a carpenter shop by the name of Ayers—an English or possibly Norman French name. We believe it originated here in the United states, but it's possible it made its way from England. The street number of the shop was 767. The box is heavy with a solid build; Beautiful charcoal black paint covers the front; and a stunning salmon red takes care of the back, a little on the side and inside. On the inside is a really lovely pumpkin orange as well. A simple metal hook holds the door closed. Two metal hinges on the other side allow it to swing open. And some scribbles are still to be found on the inside of the door.
