This is a wonderful Folk Art corner chair from regional Scandinavia. The chair seat is round with hand carved spindled back. It sits atop an X-base of four legs. They are designed in a cross-wise position creating a point of design interest and accommodating the chair in a corner position. The back is a solid piece of curved oak. Finally, there are four rectangular pegged joints holding the chair together and a decorative corbel design on the back under the seat.
