This listing is for a 19th century French oil on canvas painting.
This Victorian era painting depicts a lady and her maid on a wooded path.
The maid has a basket and appears to be conversing with the lady.
The detailing is quite spectacular.
This painting is signed in the lower right "Jules Pichard."
Little is known about Pichard. He was born in 1852 and lived in Bonnières-sur-Seine, a commune northwest of Paris.
The reverse of the canvas has a stamp that reads "PREPARED BY BRODIE. &. MIDDLETON. 79 LONG ACRE LONDON." Brodie & Middleton was a company that produced high quality art materials, including canvas.
This painting comes in a later gilt wood frame.
This painting is in overall good condition. It has been well cared for.
The framed piece measures about 37 x 45 x 1.5 inches
