This is a rare, first-generation 1956 Eames Lounge Chair (Model 670) and matching Ottoman (Model 671), manufactured by Herman Miller. This iconic set features the highly coveted original Rosewood shells, known for their deep, rich grain patterns which are no longer available in new production due to environmental protections. The upholstery is a soft, aged brown leather that has developed a beautiful, authentic patina commensurate with its 70-year history.
The chair retains its original 5-star die-cast aluminum swivel base, while the ottoman features the correct 4-star stationary base. This set is a museum-quality example of 20th-century design, perfect for a serious collector or a high-end Mid-Century Modern interior.
