Produced in 1987 by Edition Panderma, Basel, this piece is part of Edition of 230.Lajos Kassák (1887–1967) was a Hungarian writer, painter, and the leading figure of the Hungarian avant-garde. As the founder of the influential "MA" (Today) journal, he was a key conduit between Eastern European Constructivism and the Western European avant-garde (De Stijl, Bauhaus). His "Bildarchitektur" (Image Architecture) manifesto called for a synthesis of art and life through geometric clarity. Kassák's linocuts and paintings from the 1920s are masterworks of Constructivist composition, characterized by their bold, architectural structure and social utopianism.Condition:
