Origin italy period 1940s author angelo biancini born on 24 april 1911 in castelbolognese (ravenna), the sculptor and modeller angelo biancini began working at a very young age as a modeller for paolo zoli's ceramic factory 'la faience', around the end of the 1920s. In 1930, at the art institute of florence, he became a pupil of libero andreotti and established a deep human and artistic relationship with him. In 1932 he made his debut as a ceramist, presenting some majolica and sculptures. Between 1933 and 1935 he collaborated occasionally with mario morelli's studio, for which he created some models and monotypes. In 1933 he was at the milan triennale. In 1934 and 1936 he participated in the venice biennale and again at the milan triennale. In 1937 he won the gold medal for decorative plastic arts at the universal exhibition in paris. From 1936 to 1940 he was called to collaborate, with guido andlovitz, on the artistic direction of the 's.c.i.' (italian ceramic society of laveno). During his time at the 's.c.i.', biancini devoted himself primarily to small, medium, and large-scale statuary, producing a series of works that differed significantly from his current production both in their sculptural character and in the quality of the chromatic range of the glazes. In 1940 he won first prize at the milan triennale and the venice biennale with the high relief orpheus. In 1942, he began teaching at the faenza institute of ceramics, and after the war, he was appointed to the chair of plastic arts, formerly held by domenico rambelli, a position he held until 1981. In 1946, he collaborated with anselmo bucci's faenza studio and won first prize at the faenza international ceramics competition with his bas-relief, "annunciation." in the following years, he taught plastic decoration at the gaetano ballardini state art institute in faenza. In 1957, he won the faenza prize with his majolica, "jesus among the doctors," and in 1958, he presented a solo exhibition at the venice biennale. During these years, the artist's various collaborators included the young eda melandri. In subsequent years, angelo biancini was invited to contribute to the education of young ceramists by the "torviscosa" ceramic workshops. In 1984, he participated in the "masters of ceramics" exhibition as part of the faenza national ceramics competition. Angelo biancini died in castel bolognese in 1988.
