Portrait of Herwarth Walden by Edmund Kesting for Edition Panderma, Basel, 1913This linocut, titled Portrait of Herwarth Walden, is a work by Edmund Kesting. Produced in 1913 by Edition Panderma, Basel, this piece is part of Edition of 230.Edmund Kesting (1892–1970) was a German painter, photographer, and art pedagogue. He was associated with the "Der Sturm" gallery and later the Bauhaus. Kesting is known for his experimental approach, including "chemical painting" and multiple-exposure photography. His graphic and painted work from the 1920s fuses Constructivism with Dadaist collage elements. Despite persecution by the Nazis as "degenerate," he continued to innovate in photography and experimental film, leaving a diverse body of work that bridges several avant-garde movements.Condition:
