A richly layered, one-of-a-kind maritime assemblage centered around a collectible Rörstrand porcelain plate, illustrated with a 17th-century sailing galleon and marked “1600.” Founded in 1726, Rörstrand is Sweden’s oldest porcelain manufactory, long celebrated for its precision craftsmanship and historic narrative imagery—making this plate a fitting anchor for a work steeped in seafaring history.
Surrounding the plate is an abundant, sculptural composition of natural seashells, fragments, driftwood, and stones, meticulously arranged within a deep shadowbox frame. The frame itself is wrapped in vintage Portuguese newsprint, subtly referencing colonial-era trade routes, maritime empires, and the global circulation of goods and culture that defined the age of sail.
The juxtaposition of refined Scandinavian porcelain with raw coastal materials creates a compelling tension between order and erosion, industry and nature. The result feels like a contemporary cabinet of curiosities—part folk modern wall sculpture, part historical meditation.
Equally suited to a curated gallery wall, study, or coastal-modern interior, this piece offers both visual impact and layered storytelling.

The Rörstrand porcelain plate shows light age-appropriate wear consistent with display, with no observed cracks or structural damage. Mixed media elements are naturally irregular and exhibit organic variation inherent to their materials.
