The Golden Hare: A Monumental Study in Wabi-Sabi
This commanding, one-of-a-kind ceramic sculpture transforms the humble rabbit into a mythological artifact. Standing a full two feet tall, this "Golden Hare" was hand-sculpted over a six-month period using a specialized hollow-building technique, a difficult ceramic process required to create large-scale forms that survive high-fire kiln temperatures without warping.
The Process & Chemistry:
Constructed from T-mix-10, a premium porcelain-stoneware blend designed for atmospheric firing, the piece is substantial yet hollow. The surface is a result of complex chemical interactions between three distinct glazes:
Shipwreck (Iron Crystal): Creates the deep, cratered texture and aquamarine oxidation reminiscent of bronze artifacts dredged from the sea.
Bronze & White Matte: Provide the grounding earthy tones and the "bone-like" highlights
Gold Accents: Brushed gold highlights delineate the muscle structure and texture, a nod to the Japanese art of Kintsugi (finding beauty in imperfection).
Aesthetic & Placement:
Unlike standard tabletop figurines, this piece is "Furniture Sized." It is designed to sit on the floor by a hearth, on a large library table, or on a pedestal in an entryway. The aesthetic aligns perfectly with Organic Modern, Dark Academia, and Wabi-Sabi interiors, bringing a raw, elemental presence to a room.
Medium: High-Fire Stoneware (Cone 10).
Technique: Hand-built coil and slab construction.
Finish: Oxidized Iron Glaze with Gold Leaf detailing.
Signature: Signed by the artist.
Origin: Handcrafted in, USA.
