This … Read more Up for sale is a very rare antique handmade anchor nautical umbrella/cane stand made by John Hope in 1887.
This large stand is completely made by hand out of carved pieces of wood and in the form of an anchor.
It has a ring shackle at the top that pivots up and down in a wooden dowel and an inlaid cow bone canoe on the shaft.
The stand has an anchor arm with pointed flukes and a removable tole metal tray on the quarter rounded base.
It is a corner mount stand that has acquired a lovely patina from age and in good antique condition.
It has its origin manufacturer sticker on the back and measures 38 1/4 inches tall by 17 inches wide by 12 1/2 inches back to front.
There is one piece of molding missing on the top/side of the base as seen in photos. See less
