his 19th century Chinese lacquered wooden storage chest is finished in a deep black ground and richly decorated with gilt landscape scenes, floral scrollwork, and geometric borders. The exterior panels feature finely rendered pavilions, scholars, bridges, and rocky garden landscapes executed in gold lacquer, framed within shaped reserves and repeating floral motifs. The front panel is centered by an iron lockplate and retains hand-brushed gold calligraphic decoration, while the interior lid bears an original printed paper label with Chinese characters, indicative of a workshop or merchant mark rather than hand calligraphy.
