George Schuler worked with Tiffany & Co. from the 1940s through the 1960s, creating bold, sculptural gold jewelry that Tiffany sold under its own name. He was known for strong, three-dimensional designs like swirls, fans, shells, and ribbon-style forms—exactly the look seen in this pair.
These earrings feature Schuler’s patented omega clip back, often called the “Schuler back.” This design was created in 1947 to be secure and very comfortable, holding the ear gently without pinching. Many collectors look specifically for this patent number because it marks high-quality vintage Tiffany workmanship.
The swirl shape has a nice size and presence on the ear, but the earrings are not heavy and are easy to wear for long periods. The fluted gold surface catches the light beautifully and shows the quality of the goldwork.
