Up for sale is a very rare pair of 18th century hand turned brass and cast iron fireplace andirons.
They are made of thick hand turned brass, are exceedingly heavy, and have acquired a lovely patina from age.
The andirons feature an elaborate design with unique spherical finials that are peened together with iron mounts.
The tri-footed legs are wrought by hand out of thick cast iron and are very well forged.
Both legs are also hand peened to the brass shafts with large iron heads.
The pair is in nice condition, very well made, and each measures 22 3/4 inches tall by 10 3/4 inches wide by 7 3/4 inches back to front.
They have discoloration as to be expected and one brass segment has a crack as shown in last photo.
