The pyramiding shade is abnormally large, at about 15 1/2 inches across, and, as you can see, the proportions and overall design are especially attractive. The glass seems to have a bit of opalescence to it, which gives it the ever-so slightly warmth that it has. Of course this will depend on what kind of bulb you use -- whether it's incandescent or "that new stuff."

Whichever bulb you choose, you'll be delighted to experience a relatively shadowless, diffused light.

The fitter is made of solid brass, and recently and expertly chrome-plated. I mention that the base metal is brass because it takes chrome plating quite well (better than any other metal, with the exceptions of copper and bronze). Any ferrous metal will not plate as uniformly and can easily respond to environmental attack (like from salty breezes near the ocean). Then there's the design of the fitter! Wow, what a piece of design work! It's in "as good as it gets" territory for sure. The span is over 9 inches across, which means it will cover any electrical box easily. The mechanics allow for a relatively easy installation.

Measurements: about 15 1/2 wide, and 14 deep overall.

As the shade is huge, packing and shipping expense is on the high side. This will be double-boxed.

N.B. The shade shows WHITE when lit or unlit (it's a warm white, but white nonetheless). These pictures tend to give it a warmer look than is the case. See less
