A rare and striking octopus figurine, handcrafted in Italy during the 1950s to 1960s. This solid miniature is made in genuine Continental Silver and is hallmarked 800 which stands for Continental Silver (800/000), together with the brand logo or name and traces of the Italian silversmith code. The piece immediately stands out for its sculptural presence, with a bold marine design and a beautifully modeled body that feels alive and dynamic, far beyond the usual simple animal miniatures.
This octopus is attributed to the renowned Italian silver artist Mario Cerreti, known for distinctive high quality figurative silverwork. The composition has a strong mid century character, with balanced proportions and a level of detail that makes it feel like a true small sculpture rather than a decorative trinket.
