A richly textured carborundum print by French abstract artist James Coignard (1925–2008), known for his materially expressive works bridging painting and printmaking. This example demonstrates Coignard’s signature use of carborundum, creating a deeply tactile surface with pronounced relief and layered graphic elements.
The composition features a dynamic field of mineral reds, silvery greys, and graphic marks, with raised passages that read sculpturally under light. Signed and numbered 32/50, this work sits firmly within Coignard’s most desirable production, where material depth and painterly surface distinguish it from standard lithographic editions.
Presented in a period black frame with neutral mat and liner. Photographs document surface texture, signature, and overall condition in detail.
An excellent example for collectors, designers, or anyone seeking a materially rich postwar European abstract work with strong visual presence.
