This dish is unmarked like most of Coalport's early … Read more Beautiful, rare sugar box attributed to Coalport from the early 1800's. This dish is unmarked like most of Coalport's early pieces. The pattern has white background panels shaped like a vase with a flowering tree with a green design that has been called the dollar pattern. The other panels have an iron red background with flowers and gold stems. This box features a gold rim on the top of the jar, bottom of lid and on the base, gold faux handles and finally, a gold finial on top. Sugar was valuable commodity in the early 1800's. The containers to keep it were equally valuable and ornate. This piece is a beautiful example. I love everything about this piece. It is sure to catch everyone's attention at your next gathering.
